I listened to the Atomera (ATOM) presentation at Needham this past week. By the end, I knew the stock was going to be absolutely hammered.
There are two aspects to running a public company. Running your business and handling the Wall Street (i.e. investor) side of things. Atomera seems to be handling their business well enough. Progress is slower than hoped but they keep moving the product forward and I am optimistic that they will be a big success eventually. And, eventually seems to be getting closer, daily.
That said, this company really doesn’t understand the IR side of things. I have never seen a stock continually get beaten up on the back of presentations. This 25% smackdown was not the first time Atomera has been hit post a conference call. These are supposed to be opportunities to get investors excited. Once again, the company failed to do so.
However, in this chaos lies opportunity. If you believe that Atomera is going to be a big success, you’re getting another chance to buy stock in the single digits. One of these times it will be the last time here for the stock.
Based on history, they take longer to reach goals and the stock was euphoric; I am now looking for the right time to reload.
